The San Ramon Marriott has been DunDraCon's home since 1992, and we enjoy a good relationship with the hotel staff and services.

The Dundracon room rate for 2012 is $91.00 per room night, plus tax - up to four people per room. Roll-away beds are available on a first-come-first-served basis for an additional charge.

The hotel price in 2013 will be $97.00

We have changed how the hotel deals with requests for double-double rooms. Be warned; the new policy had the predictable effect for DDC 35: by November 3, 2010, all the Double-double rooms had been reserved. Less than half the rooms in the property are doubles, and when they're gone, all that's left are kings.

If you can make do with a king, perhaps with a roll-away bed, we suggest you go ahead and make your reservations now; those will be gone too, soon enough. Then call the reservations number a couple of times a week and ask about cancellations; there's always a lot of turnover in the last few weeks or even days before the con, and you may get lucky.

If the hotel rep tells you the hotel is full, send a message to our Hotel Liaison at once, and we'll get things straightened out if we can. This year we're starting out with most of the hotel on hold already. After the block fills up, some additional rooms may be assigned to the convention, and you may be able to get one of them. Once the Marriott fills up for real, you can make reservations at one of the alternative hotels . . . and keep trying for a cancellation at the Marriott. Every year, some people do manage to snag rooms at the last minute.
